Review on SpeTool Carbide Aluminum Acrylic Woodworking: Precision Tool for High-Quality Finishes by Ronnie Segobiano

Cuts and engraves ABS sheet very cleanly - short life but worth it.

Unfortunately they have a short lifespan. I had a few sheets of 0.25" x 24" x 24" ABS sheet for character engraving on my CNC machine, I tried a few different bits from different manufacturers. They all technically worked but left that way lots of melted shards of plastic at the bottom of the letters, each of which I spent about an hour cleaning up with a 1/8" chisel. The result was signs with a smooth underside of the letters without melting. I had to do about 2 .5 hours of cutting on a CNC machine before anything melted Black plastic splinters form at the bottom of the letters, but after 4 hours of cutting it takes no more than 15 minutes to clean each sheet (compared to an hour to clean each sheet beforehand. It takes about 1/2 hour to reduce each time, so it's about four bucks to save an hour of extra labor if you don't remove the melted bleach want to. (Technical term) similar to mouse poo balls I can't help but feel like I could have lasted much longer if the quality of the steel used had been better. but maybe that's just the cost of Zero Flute. sounds very zen. If you play a zero flute in a forest and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?

Pros
  • Single flute design, larger helical gullet and high gloss CNC milling cutters ensure non-stick chips, smooth cuts and fast chip evacuation
Cons
  • Easily cracked
