I have two of these, have used one for over five years and may get another one soon. This is the only case I will use with a 2.5" mechanical hard drive as it adds many levels of durability. The outer shell is absolutely durable; The aluminum heatsink also acts as an inner basket for the drive itself, providing additional protection. ; and there are even two strips of some sort of transparent rubber pad (more padding) where the heatsink aligns inside the case. But if you want to protect that mechanical hard drive you carry around in your backpack, it's about as reliable as a consumer product can be.
