This is useful for squeezing the caliper piston so you can put fresh pads back on almost all calipers using a piston that compresses the pads on the brake disc. If you have a swivel car you'll probably need a socket wrench, but that's really rare. Make sure you know what type of calipers you have - can they compress or do they rotate? For most amongst all calipers, this tool works extremely well - once you get pressure you can use the socket design to open the ratchet to push the calipers out and make them flush! very easy. comes in a few sizes for people with really big brakes like trucks.
