Bad seal design on teapots

While I haven't had the problems with peeling paint that other people have, one of the main downsides to this jar is the o-ring on the lid. I have no idea what material this seal is made of, but it was a critical flaw in the design process. This is not your typical soft silicone seal as it is too hard and does not squeeze well enough compared to other cups I have had/used. It takes superhuman strength to close the screw cap tight enough so that hot liquid doesn't spill out when tilted or shaken. To be honest I would consider this a major safety issue and the company should consider a recall before someone unexpectedly gets scalded; I've been around several times myself. I literally have to use the wooden spoon in the lid's handle as leverage to close the lid tight enough to prevent leakage/spillage. I can't think of any other serious complaints about this glass. One minor complaint, and I'll have to see how long it lasts, concerns the mesh infuser. It's not thick stainless steel, and looks like I'll be lucky if it lasts a year before falling apart. If it weren't for the mismatched seal design/material I would buy again and highly recommend to others. However, due to this critical design flaw, I'll rate it a D+ and buyer beware; if not for your safety.
