This filter is great for the water in my turtle tank. It's very quiet and doesn't take up much space; it's easy to hide behind a small hanging plant in the corner. It's not designed for large volumes of water, but my water system is about 10 inches deep and 4 inches and 3 inches deep and the filter keeps it clean with no problem. The sponge filter is easy to clean and you could probably modify it to add some water. carbon if you like. I love that you can connect a clear hose to the outlet and make a beautiful waterfall out of it.
