In some ways not as good as the previous design.

The reason I bought this mug was to replace my previous Contigo mug. It was the original Autoseal. The problem with the other cup was that the gasket for the hole where the liquid comes out became hard due to coffee build up over the 2+ years I've had it. And yes, I washed myself. in the dishwasher. I checked the new seal on the internet. You can buy a lid gasket for the bowl, but the only way to get a lid gasket is to buy a complete lid assembly, which costs $15 (for a mug that costs $17!), so I went for that new design Autoseal. The mug itself is very beautiful and I like the overall design. The seal is much better designed and easier to remove and clean, and the threaded portion of the cap is designed to be much easier to clean. What I don't like is the button you press to open the lid. While the button on the original mug was a long vertical button that could be pressed with two fingers, the new one is a thinner horizontal button that could only be pressed with one finger. It's not a "natural" grip to compress like the old design. I'm a little surprised by this change as the difficulty in pressing the button was one of the most critical features of the original Autoseal cup in customer reviews.

Pros
  • Lock: Lock feature prevents accidental AUTOSEAL button presses
Cons
  • Some bugs
