Review on Apple MacBook 2018 2017 2016 Networking Products by Andrew Gomez

Quality but not perfect

I was looking at a lot of keys that I need to buy to return to Apple. It's been over ten years since my last and I'm back from a 2018 MacBook Air. Knowing that I need some kind of legacy portkey to be a tech and I need minimal equipment. There are many dongles and docks out there, and it's just a matter of usage philosophy and requirements, or how often you're going to use them. I wanted 2 things Ethernet and HDMI. Together with the USB-A adapter it replaces 3 separate dongles covering 99% of what I will be using. Although it's small enough, I don't notice it in my pocket. One big thing I found odd was that I noticed a downside. When I charge my laptop via the USB-C pass-through port, it seems to ruin the battery and also allows the CPU and fan to run at full capacity. That's why I don't use it. Not a big deal since there are 2 Air pieces. ProsSmall form factor / no SD card reader (already comes with a USB-C card adapter) Lightweight aluminum ConsBug when charging via USB-C on a MacBook Air. I don't use the dongle all the time but basically need an ethernet port. With that in mind, I just wanted Ethernet with a few extras. For me it's great. I actually prefer this over a thicker laptop with more ports.

Pros
  • 3 USB 3.0 PORTS: for external hard drives, flash drives, printers, all USB devices.
Cons
  • Some errors
