This is a game changer. At first I tried hanging the bikes horizontally with axle straps, but I didn't like the way they were hung. I was surprised at how high you could lift the bikes vertically. Very easy to install. I have some tips that might help people. 1) Take a 1/2" or 3/4" diameter metal pipe and clamp it. Take one side of the hook and attach it to your workbench/table. Remove the protective rubber covers (easy to remove and install). Insert the bent end of the hook into the pipe and bend the hook at a more acute angle. Reattach the rubber cover. Repeat on each hook. This makes it much safer. (Stole this idea from another reviewer so thanks to her) 2) I highly recommend attaching the brackets to the 2×4, it makes installation easier. 3) Buy good screws and bolts. The screws that come with it suck, in my opinion. They're cheap and easy to remove. We used 1 1/2" wood screws, 8" screws, 1/4" 3" screws. This is very difficult when parts of the pulley system are loose and moving. I recommend attaching the brackets with screws. Insert a screw in each corner. Then run the rope through the pulley system. If your fingers are too big to get the rope through the last hole at the end, you can use a screw or bolt to push it through. We then partially drilled 1/4" × 3" screws into the holes in the center of the bracket. So they were ready when we installed them on the ceiling. The lag screws held the mount more securely and in the studs. We then attached the 2×4 to the ceiling with brackets. We used 8" screws to attach the 2×4 to the studs. After it was secured to the studs, we finished drilling 1/4"×3" tabs into the brackets/studs. 6) Before lifting the bike, make sure the cable is in the guide on the pulley, it may slip off during installation.
