Over time I have bought two of these mats for two litter boxes and they have kept cat urine on the floor well for over a year. They are not easy to clean due to the pattern/material. Using fillers will hold you captive no matter what you're doing, but shaking them out can help. I usually vacuum the carpet a couple of times and then use the vacuum hose to remove what little dry dirt remains. If cat pee gets on the carpet which I use it for as my cat has a hard time keeping everything in the box clean it's not that easy to clean but scrubbing the stain with some cloths helps a bit. . I don't keep any scent so that's nice. The rug is big enough to cover two large boxes and it has served me well so I will be buying/replacing it again in a few years.
