Review on Fulton Sawhorse Brackets - Medium Duty, Set of 2 by Joel Gumbiner

Overpriced Light Duty Saw Arms

Most people would agree that light duty saw arms, which Harbor Freight sells for $3.99 a pair, fit the definition of a light saw load. I was looking for something better than the HF saw shackle and after a long search settled on the Fulton shackle for medium chainsaws because it was described as being made of heavy gauge steel and was described at length. However, the truth is that the brackets are not overly long. In fact, I've compared Fulton brackets to brackets from multiple manufacturers and found that all brackets of this type have the exact same dimensions, regardless of manufacturer or price. The only variable is the thickness of the metal. Of all the braces I have, Fulton braces are made from the thinnest steel. The steel is only 0.7mm thick compared to the more common 0.8mm in my other braces including those sold at Home Depot. However, the steel in the $3.99 HF brackets is 1.0mm thick. The cheapness of Fulton brackets was confirmed by the weight of 279 grams Fulton brackets compared to 408 grams HF brackets. Fulton mounts are overpriced lightweight mounts.
