Acer Predator XB271HU ReviewPro: 1440p (higher resolution than 1080p but lower than 4K 144Hz (up to 144fps in games if your graphics card can handle it) IPS (better color and viewing angles than other types of monitors like TN panels) G- Sync enabled (eliminates tearing and stuttering when used with an NVidia graphics card) Ultra Low Blur mode available Low response lag Excellent color reproduction Features USB inputs Highly adjustable (can be rotated up and down and left to right) Features low- Blue light modes Cons: (Slightly) Poor instructions Manual A little difficult to assemble to the base Comes with short cables (3 or 4ft cables) Panel screen doesn't reach the bezel leaving dark borders on the sides of the screen ( just a disappointment when using multiple monitors side by side) My Impressions: This is a great monitor I have a 24" Asus IPS Mon itor upgraded to 1920 x 1200 60Hz and this monitor is definitely better. The 1440p resolution shows in games, as does the high refresh rate. At 1080p, 60 fps games are still very good. If I were a college student or someone without a lot of income, I don't think the $600-$700 you would spend on a monitor like this would give you a much better gaming experience. I play all kinds of games like League of Legends, Overwatch, Skyrim, etc. and this monitor makes those games better and more enjoyable, but it's hard for me to say that my experience has increased by $600. If you're a casual gamer or want to get the most bang for your buck, I'd recommend sticking with a 1080p monitor. It's also worth noting that this monitor requires an NVidia graphics card powerful enough to take full advantage of it. Features like G-Sync and ULMB require an NVidia card. However, they make similar monitors with features like Freesync that work with AMD graphics cards. To get the full 1440p resolution at 144 fps, you need to connect this monitor to your computer with a DisplayPort cable. The included cable is only about 4 feet long. So you may need to buy a longer cable. I have 15 feet. Cables at Amazon for about $12. If you use HDMI you're limited to 1440p and 60fps, so I highly recommend using a DisplayPort cable to connect this monitor. The OSD (Display Menu) is quite user-friendly. I'm computer savvy and it took me about 30 minutes to figure out and play around with all the available options in this monitor's OSD menu. Gaming aside, this monitor has both pros and cons. At 1440p, you'll have more desktop real estate for various applications, typing, coding, and more, but it can be less when you're watching movies or browsing the web. Because this monitor's resolution is nearly twice that of most online video and graphic content, you may find YouTube and other videos smaller but sharper on the screen. If you spend most of your time watching movies like YouTube or Netflix (especially if you're not watching full screen), you might be better off using a regular 1080p monitor. any other defects of this product. Final Thoughts: This is a great high-end monitor for your above-average gamer on a budget. Your experience will be better than 1080p60fps, but how much depends on the user. It comes with all the bells and whistles you would find in a gaming monitor but at a hefty price tag. The instruction manual is a bit wrong. To get the most out of this monitor you need to be computer savvy and you can't just plug it into any computer and expect miracles, but you do need the right hardware and tweaking the settings on your computer and the monitor's OSD. 6 month update: I've been using this monitor for 6 months now. I would still stick with my previous review. It's still the best monitor I've used for gaming, but it's not without its flaws. If you spend a lot of time gaming and want to get the best results at 1440p, a high frame rate will make the game better, but how much better is debatable. If you're looking for the best value for money, look elsewhere. If you've got the money and you're an enthusiast, get the most out of your high-performance GPU/CPU combo with this monitor. When you play BF1 at maximum settings, 1440p at around 120 fps, it looks fantastic.
