Review on ๐Ÿถ Eleton's Planet Glass Multi-Purpose Cruet: Glass Oil Decanter & Cruet - 30 Fluid Ounces by Shawn Fuller

Best storage for oils

This is our fifth multi-purpose Eleton Planet Glass slide. We have had 3 large and 2 small bottles for many years. They're great, mostly because they get rid of oily messes while keeping them clean and fresh. They last a very long time. Pour carefully. The only downside is that it can be difficult to wash them as the neck is small. It's easy if you find a matching bottle brush with long bristles on a springy, twisted wire shaft. But it is even more difficult to dry the inside after washing. I've tried pure grain alcohol which dries out the bottle but needs to be completely removed before adding the oil or you end up with an impossibly cloudy oil. Paper towels, or pieces of paper towels, are easily lost in bottles, so you may need to rinse them to get them out. Full-size Bounty towels are big enough to wrap diagonally around a bottle brush to get into a corner and strong enough not to fall apart. Therefore, you might be tempted not to wash the bottles. Almost any cooking oil will polymerize over time, forming deposits around the neck of the vessel and on the spout. So it's time to clean them up. So here are a few things not to do: Don't scratch the bottles, especially the inside, with the wire end of a bottle brush or the blade of a knife. That will be the weak point. Do not bang the outside of the bottle against a ceramic tile (e.g. an apron) - the bottle will break, especially if it is almost empty and the inside is scratched. Another way to get into trouble is by shoving the conical spout into the bottle. Just let it fall by itself. He will stay fine. If you ever find it sticking, apply gentle heat only to the outside of the neck of the bottle. The neck of the bottle expands easily and the spout is easy to remove. Sometimes the oil in the bottle polymerizes between the spout and the neck. A little pure grain alcohol will quickly dissolve the oil and free the spout. We love these bottles and will continue to buy them.
