Review on 2-Pack Kohler-Compatible Canister Flush Valve Seal Replacements for Toilets - Equal to K-GP1059291 by Don Leblanc

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfectly fits the Kohler Monolith toilet and solves most "leaky toilet " problems.

Perfect for our one-piece Kohler Santa Rosa toilet flush. I've found that the basic plastic parts (base, canister, stem) are very basic and don't usually cause toilet leak problems. So far, all problems have been with one of these canister seals. After about eight years, they wear out, become flexible and fold, causing the canister to no longer close. The rod inside the canister is easily removed from the base by twisting it a quarter turn (counterclockwise, of course). Remove the canister (cylinder) and replace the gasket at the bottom and replace it. For a temporary fix, simply flatten the old gasket and make sure it is under the plastic tabs on all sides. But once it deteriorates to that extent, it will likely fall apart and leak in a few weeks. The base also has a foam pad that will wear out over time. So if you are replacing this canister pad, you can also purchase a "Kohler GP83996 pad" and replace it at the same time. And stock up on some extras as they need to be replaced every 8-15 years and who knows if this part will be available decades from now. The Impresa seal fits perfectly, is well priced and works as advertised.
