Neither of my two Kohler toilets shut properly.

Didn't close properly on either of my two Kohler canister toilets. I fought them for about three weeks. I tried cleaning the surfaces and even emptied and scrubbed the entire tank to remove sand particles that had settled on the bottom over time. I ended up going to the local hardware store and looking for the best answer. I tried Corky's #435 filling. Two in a package for $6.58 and they were the same red as the original. When comparing red and yellow fillings, the red ones from Korka were…

Fits perfectly and eliminates the "slow leaking" problem. Paper with instructions is included, but basically: 1) Turn off water in toilet and flush 2) Pull moldy fill tube out of center of canister stem 3) Lift tank out of place and slide under canister, grasp center stem and rotate counterclockwise about 45 degrees and pull the rod and canister straight up (you can twist the rod out all the way up if you want but I think it's more likely to break and then you're SOL) 4) Remove the old…

  • Slim design

  • Not bad, but...

Perfect for our one-piece Kohler Santa Rosa toilet flush. I've found that the basic plastic parts (base, canister, stem) are very basic and don't usually cause toilet leak problems. So far, all problems have been with one of these canister seals. After about eight years, they wear out, become flexible and fold, causing the canister to no longer close. The rod inside the canister is easily removed from the base by twisting it a quarter turn (counterclockwise, of course). Remove the canister…

The seal is of poor quality! for plumbing

I had to buy a kit in February 2020 for two identical toilets that I installed in 2012. That tells me that Kohler GENUINE seals have lasted almost 8 years. By October I had to replace the set I bought in February for both toilets. They failed each other within a few months. I've been looking very closely and it turns out these bubbles are slowly adding up to your water bill over time. Bubbles should increase over time, causing the cylinder to periodically lose its tightness. over time, the…

Final decision. So easy.

toilet equipment. It's simple mechanics and gravity. These Kohler toilets (the ones with the "canister") have a seal that breaks or fails over time. Water seeps into the bowl. The valve is activated to replace the lost water from the tank. REPLACE THE GASKET ONLY! This can be done in less than 5 minutes. Tips: 1. Do not separate the chain - a waste of time. 2. Lift the canister to remove the pin. 3. Hold the canister up with one hand and with the other hand twist the pin in the base to remove -

Great guide, fixed phantom flush/leak, no leaks. They work!

My wife made the mistake of throwing chlorine tablets into a tank (not a bowl) in our toilets. By the time I realized it, it was too late and the damage had been done. A Kohler toilet had a pervasive problem of "ghost flushing," where water slowly drains from the tank into the bowl, causing the toilet to refill from time to time. The other toilet was difficult to flush - when you pushed the flush lever there was a lot of resistance as if something got stuck. Having never worked with the fancy…

Great seals, please read my clarifying tips to avoid trouble!

This is a great product and since I've had 2 Kohler toilets with the same problem it was $100 cheaper (and easier) than calling a plumber. They even came with instructions, top notch product. A few clarifying tips: 1) When turning the valve stem inside the cylinder a quarter turn counter-clockwise, the trick is to hold the can up and do it under the can (but still in the tank). If you feel with your hand, you'll get a lot more leverage at the bottom than at the top. If you try to turn the…
