Rheem SP20060 Electric Water Heater Upgrade Kit

This kit saved me from spending over $500 to replace a 58 gallon water heater. I switched from hot to cold water and after some searching and help from a family member I was told that the heating element should be replaced and since I was replacing it I decided the thermostat should be replaced as well. To be honest the thermostat was the easiest as it doesn't require spraying water everywhere. The heating element was a problem for me (the plumbing was off) and I managed to fill my garage with tons of water. I would recommend getting a heater element wrench, it made a world of difference. Something to keep in mind if you don't want to damage your thermostat. Once everything is connected, you can refill the tank with no visible leaks. Blow all the air out of the water heater, and as soon as you start getting water, turn all the faucets in the house on hot for about three minutes, THEN turn on the power to the water heater. I had hot water for an hour after installing this kit. . If you're using a stainless steel heating element, expect some hot water.
