This is a terrible product and a waste of time. It disables Wi-Fi more than the 5-year-old 2.4GHz router it was meant to replace. 5GHz is so fast it's practically unusable whether you're using it in smart mode or as 2 separate 5GHz channels. We tried this in the face of interference on every available channel, but all had the same result - too many dropped WiFi connections. 2.4GHz was more reliable, but at this point why are we buying an expensive replacement for an old router that already does it?! I heard bad reviews about the reliability of the Netgear Nighthawk series but ignored them and bought. You were right - all the negative reviews I read were correct. Whether it comes out of the box or 6 months after you received it, the radio and/or chipset inside is simply unreliable and I can now say that from personal experience. We're bringing that back and moving to a UniFi-branded hotspot instead. It's commercial grade, but they also work from home, and their cost isn't that different from those overpriced, unreliable Nighthawks. Great reviews for UniFi are everywhere. Take a look if you're as disappointed in these Nighthawks as we are.
