I love my tin can, but. Updated

Does the job perfectly. He's more than I expected. I read that the smaller one is not suitable for bathing in hot water. This applies to quarts, but not to pints. I think to save space in my closet I would prefer a smaller one. Also, I feel that the smaller pressure can reach faster, which saves a little time. I don't usually do large batches. I have canned fruit, pie filling, broth, chicken, soups, stews, hamburgers, stews and veggies. We currently live at high altitude and I can only weigh 15 pounds. So the weight that comes with the can is fine for now. If we get to a lower altitude I'll invest in a 5-10-15 lb weight because I prefer a manipulator to a gauge. Update: We've moved, I received a load of 5-10-15 pounds. Works perfectly! All in all our family is growing and this will do everything the smaller one can do and more so I'm happy with that and can appreciate the larger size later. Update: I chose a 16 liter. It fits in my closet. I know it's a bit crazy to buy another one when the old one worked fine, but I frustrated myself and finally got the one I wanted. Both work great and I have since bought a 6 liter pressure cooker and love cooking in it. I used a 16 liter can to reheat a grilled chicken and it turned out to be faster and better than a microwave and moister than an oven. (stacking is not recommended for water swimming) and pressure can be 7 qt or 20 pints (double rate) is not recommended for canning but makes dinner or side dishes very quick and easy. Also prepares chicken broth in 20 minutes instead of simmering for several hours. Then straight to my cannery.

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
  • No paint required
