Works with Mac OS HighSierra

I have stable 60 Mbps wireless internet throughout my home with Charter Spectrum service using a Linksys tri-band router. My Apple Mac Mini usually flies well on the 5GHz band as the primary device, but after upgrading to HighSierra the other day things have slowed down to a bare minimum. I played around with the network settings and got the speed back a bit, but decided to make a backup. to buy this Anker USB 3.0 Portable Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. I've considered buying it before as the Mac Mini doesn't have an Ethernet port and if the Wi-Fi card goes down I can't go online with the Mini. I needed an OS update to purchase this item and I'm glad I did! Installation was easy. I connected the adapter to a USB (2.0) port on my old Mini and then to a 3ft ethernet cable which I then plugged into a port on the back of my wireless router. I restarted my Mini (not necessary but always a good idea) and turned off Wi-Fi on the Mini. As expected, the Internet connection went directly via the adapter. I was glad that such an easy swap was possible and I now have a backup for minis and laptops. The adapter has two indicators; a red one to indicate the device is on and a green one to indicate the network connection is active. They're very small, so they don't emit much light, which can be distracting in a darkened workspace. I used a network of SpeedTest points to test internet connection speeds for downloads and uploads before and after switching to an adapter. Both speed tests were essentially the same: 65+ downloads and 5 downloads. Once again, as expected. I love that this product is small, useful and comes with an 18 month warranty from Anker. I highly recommend and will buy more if needed. Ideal for Mac OS HighSierra and Windows 10.
