I'm not a plumber, I'm a photographer, but this is the perfect solution for me.
I bought them for photographic equipment. I use it on a 1/4-20 screw on the top of the tripod to keep the camera from moving relative to the top of the tripod. The rubber allows for sufficient tightening of the 1/4-20 bolt when the washer is flexed, and surface friction between the washer and the chamber prevents movement.
