After purchasing this fan I found that the included bracket is very limited in terms of installation. There was no place this could work under my pergola and give me proper lighting. I decided to install the bracket upside down and bolt it to my 2x8 crossbar. You'll see that I had to drill a few extra holes to get the bracket high enough. With two screws holding the fan to the bracket I'm sure they will hold. I have a huge ceiling fan in my living room that uses just a single bolt through a pole hanging from the ceiling. I also made some modifications to the pivot mount to allow the fan to be tilted lower. So far it works like a charm and my wife loves it. The bottom line is that I wanted others to know that there was flexibility in how it was set up.
