It was terrible on wood stains with a glossy finish and on metal fittings with a coating. This product does not remove anything. Hardware: Eight small cabinet hinges and five small cabinet handles were all I worked on. First I cleaned the hardware with Dawn soap, rinsed thoroughly and dried. I wiped the Krud Kutter product with a cloth dampened with the product. I rubbed and rubbed. No effect. Later I used a Brillo pillow. Not good. Played another round of Crood Cutter. Nowhere. Came back the next day and tried again with another Brillo pad. Still nowhere to go. So I used another Brillo pad. Still not good. Finally today I literally poured seven inches of Krud Kutter into a bowl and soaked the gear for 45 minutes. Then rubbed and rubbed with a rag. Cleaned with a toothbrush. I used my fingernails to scrape off the hardware cover. I need a different shine remover because it's terrible on both wood and metal.
