2 years with ibobber

Two years ago I looked at every portable castable fish finder on the market before settling on this one. When choosing an Ibobber, price and equipment were important to me. It does what it says on the tin, accurately marking fish, depth and water temperature. Some of the other nice features are underwater mapping and fish alerts. I've used it for both bank cast and kayak trailing. I turn on the fish alarm while paddling and it alerts me to a fish I pass so I don't have to keep looking at it. I wear a waterproof smartphone case around my neck, which I think is essential to make the device easier to use. The ibobber can detect two different fish sizes: under 15 inches and over 15 inches. The LED light is a useful feature for night fishing. A friend of mine has a Deeper and while the sonar app is more like an advanced sonar chart, I'm not sure it's actually that much better for the price. He was constantly having issues with the application freezing on his Samsung device. I use an iPhone and have had very few crashes on the ibobber platform. Its deeper is also significantly heavier than the Ibobber. So much so that I wouldn't recommend casting it without a thick braided line. I use a special thick braided rod to cast mine out and leave it there while I fish from the bank with other rods. Deeper also makes you buy a separate cover if you want access to LED lights for night fishing, which is ridiculous considering how much it already costs. Battery life is an issue with all of these devices. Once fully charged, they work for about 8 hours. But you should charge it overnight or a few hours before going outside. Charge one of them up a few days before your trip and they'll run out of power before you even get there. Basically I am satisfied with the ibobber. It's not perfect yet, none of them. This is the new generation of castable gear and I'm sure it will continue to improve. But I was addicted to the price/features of such a new gadget. good luck there
