Review on Scotchgard Clear Paint Protection Film Roll - 3M Bulk, 4x72 inches by Eric Nallamothu

Purchased to protect the rocker panel paint on our new Honda CR-V. I've put some decals on and know the installation process (although I've read the .pdf file on the 3M website). I had to reduce the width to 3" after installing the first bar because 4" was too wide for the sill and I had to trim it with scissors, making the edge uneven. (I didn't have enough supplies to redo the windowsill) I did this on my workbench with a razor blade and ruler after measuring and marking on the paper side. I found the rocker panels had complex curves and multiple ridges. The 3M material is thick enough for sticking. I've found it's best to place the top edge on a perfectly flat surface and squeeze out soapy water to help it stick with your fingers and a microfiber cloth. Then I pressed on the next bend and squeezed out the soapy water again to make the part stick, and so on. I reapplied the soapy water under the loose film as I went along. Unfortunately, I could not adjust the film, in which the window sill is curved in two planes in front. I stretched the foil but it was still wrinkled. So I just stuck a film on the rear sills where the body was bent in one plane and it turned out fine. On another front doorstep I repeated after practicing on others where I had put the other foil and was able to fit a little better but still had wrinkle problems where the foil just wouldn't. stretch enough. Maybe I could use heat to soften it, but in the end the location means it's not as noticeable. No way would I try it on the hood or bumpers. Too much curvature! UPDATE: A few days after applying the foil, I noticed that any wrinkles were slightly reduced. The worst were still visible on closer inspection, but the smaller ones appeared to have flattened out. I'll add some photos when I get a chance.
