I bought this to replace the previous RR501 transceiver I have had since 2000. The capacitor is finally dead. I placed a spare in the same spot with the same wireless controllers and X10 modules. The first PAT03 I received had a radio range of 6" to 12". I suspect it could be a return. I'm pretty sure he didn't have the box. I asked for a replacement. The replacement has a longer range, maybe 8 feet or so, while the previous RR501 had a longer range, at least 20 feet. I've wall mounted some of these flimsy controllers and they worked with the RR501 before it failed and won't work with this PAT03. I returned both and will look for the RR501 and hope it doesn't have the same issues.
