Review on πŸ“» Enhance Communication on the Go with the AnyTone AT-778UV Dual Band Transceiver Mobile Radio VHF/UHF Ham Radio for Car Vehicle by David Golden

Revainrating 1 out of 5

There is no functional programming software anywhere. I cannot recommend this radio.

If I hadn't already screwed the mounting plate to my car, I would send this radio back. I did a quick research to see if the software was available but clearly didn't research enough before purchasing this radio. Despite the fact that some posted in the manual do not have a link to the software, Anytone does not offer any software for this radio on their website, there is no "free" Midland software, Russian software does not work v1 or v2 (at least with the ones on this one radio installed firmware), CHIRP does not work and the seller does not supply software with a working radio. They sent a small CD with several programs but none of them were for the AT-778UV. A company called RTS Systems offers software for $50, but you have to buy their programming cable (which I already bought separately for the AT-778UV). Anytone programming cable). I was initially optimistic about the reviews, the size, the color screen and the dual band, but it's not practical to hand program this radio unless you're only programming a few channels. I've spent hours finding software, trying different programs, and playing around with them. I guess I should have spent that money from us to manually program all the repeaters I want to use. Until the software is available I would NOT buy this radio.
