Blue pad five stars, black pad ZERO stars
As other reviewers have noted, the rough blue filter pad is good, but the black portion is quite thin. I like rinsing and reusing filter pads and with great care I was able to rinse and reuse the black pad a few times without it falling apart. But after a month of use, the black pad finally broke so much that it just stuck to the Bioballs and became unusable. This clogging also causes the water flow through the filter to gurgle and burp until the gasket is replaced. I bought a roll of fine filter material so I can now cut it myself.
