While the mount is made of durable composite plastic, the phone holder itself is made of thin, cheap plastic and I'm worried that UV rays may damage it after a while. Mine is mounted on a salt water boat so I opened it up and the only metal is a spring which I filled with marine lube which should last a long time in the salt water. I think it will last a few years, although it can't compete with the Ram it's a good low cost alternative. This product would be much better with a thicker plastic body and phone holder grips.
