Review on ๐Ÿ”ฆ ORCATORCH D550 Dive Light: 1000 Lumens Scuba Dive Torch with 3400mAh Battery and Accessories by Jonathan Germain

Great little tech flashlight!

OrcaTorch D550 impressed me. A small, robust, compact flashlight with a range of up to 150 m/492 ft that makes an excellent technical backup light or can be used as a small main light in suitable conditions. My first dive with the D550 was at the Coral Restoration Foundation in the Florida Keys and the 1000 lumen light was very visible in daylight. Love the magnetic push button switch on the tail (easier to use than the traditional twist to turn on) and the fact that it has a strobe mode in addition to the high and low power beam. Kind. I also liked the soft grip and neoprene sleeve that holds the light. However, I found that it slipped a bit. I ended up attaching a carabiner, which I attached to the base of the light, to the plastic D-ring on the handle to ensure it wouldn't fall out of the sleeve. The D550's peak run time is more than double that of my Dive Rite BX-2 (1095 lumens), which is only slightly thicker and heavier, although the BX-2 has a significantly narrower (6 degree center) beam than the OrcaTorch ( 8 degrees). At $80 including an optional lithium battery and soft grip, the D550 is a very good deal. Photo courtesy of Coral Restoration Foundation.
