Assembly is cheap, instructions are vague, but it works well.

Runs on two AAA batteries, not included. I received this and immediately put a calibration weight on it. The weight of 300g was about 0.4g less, too much. So I looked through the calibration instructions, followed them to the letter, and it turned out to be insanely ineffective. You never press the power button to calibrate the device, but the instructions tell you to do it multiple times. Aggravating. So I made a video to express my dissatisfaction and show how this stupid thing doesn't calibrate and at the time of making this video I HAVE TO CALIBRATE IT. I know it's weird. Either way it works, but you have to follow this process: Press and hold the MODE button until you see "500g". **** Please note that at this point you can press the TARE button to select an alternative calibration. Weight 100g and these are your two options; 100g and 500g. Next select the calibration weight and when it is displayed press MODE again and 'CAL' will appear on the screen. Now place the calibration weight on the scale. After a few moments, "PASSโ€ will appear on the scale and you are done. It's calibrated. Now that I've dealt with it, I think everything is fine. It works well but isn't particularly sensitive and really only seems accurate to a resolution of 0.03g to 0.05g rather than 0.01g, but for my purposes that's fine. When I take the weight off and put it back on the scale, it changes by a small amount each time, but it oscillates around the correct answer. never mind You get what you pay for. I definitely wouldn't use it if I needed something that measured milligrams every time very accurately, but I would trust it with a resolution of about half a milligram. The display is fine. Large, easy-to-read numbers. No problem. I'm not a big fan of buttons. For example, when you press the power button, the screen blurs because you're actually pressing the screen to turn on the device, which makes me nervous. The TARE button is in the wrong place (i.e. not in line with the sticker) and is difficult to press, as is the PCS button. All of the buttons give positive feedback when pressed, but they're clearly cheap and probably won't last long. Not a big deal, but it's cheap hardware and I'm sure you'll eventually break it with regular use. For occasional use, though, it's probably fine. The tray is made of cheap plastic and generates a lot of static electricity. Not suitable for powder as it will stick to the shell but works well. It's better than nothing. All in all, it's not great, but it's not bad either. It looks and works like a cheap calculator, although I think the calculator will last longer. Out of the box half a gram is inaccurate but once I figured it out it calibrated to normal. Would I buy it again? Fur. I think it's about as good as it gets for under $20, so probably. I won't use it much though. If I had to rely on it every day, or even two or three times a week, I'd pick something better. I'm guessing this thing will last a month or two with daily use.
