I bought 3 rods for my 14ft boat and they worked great. The two locking mechanisms for each post held up easily when I applied pressure to the tarpaulin even though the tarpaulin was tied to the trailer. I attached a mounting plate to each of them and laid the plate on the floor so they would stand upright. I wanted to avoid having to buy another piece to mount on the end that rests on the canvas. I didn't want the 3/4" end puncturing the tarp as snow and ice accumulated, so I purchased the recommended plastic cap to attach to the tarp pole. Since I had to purchase a different product for the pole, I lowered the rating by one point. .
