This underlay holds the rug in place well and was comfortable HOWEVER we have just discovered that the flooring underneath the rug underlay now has a permanent checkerboard pattern on the floor. Something in the rubber must have left a stain on the floor. We have dark painted oak floors. The carpet was 9 months old but we were thinking about moving it and found these marks. No amount of cleaning seems to remove the stains. This topper is great value and may work better on tile or older floors, but if you're worried about ever opening this area again, be very careful! I would suggest checking it after a week or so and making sure there are no stains.
