Review on 🌽 Improved SEO: OXO Good Grips Corn Peeler for Effortless Removal by Tony Cohen

Ergonomic but not for corn lovers

Bought for my husband. My husband loves corn. He eats corn on the cob only on harvest day. He shops at the farmer's counter. They are only sold by the dozen. Do you see the problem? There are two of us, so we have leftover corn. LOTS of corn because he loves fresh corn EVERY day during the season. My husband usually uses a knife to remove the kernels, suck out air, freeze them, and then eat a whole bunch of off-season cornbread, corn. Chowder, corn pancakes, recipe corn. Do you understand. So I thought he might like it. That's ergonomic, but there's a design flaw. It is only suitable for certain corn varieties that are either fine-grained or not yet ripe at the time of harvest. Otherwise the distance from the blade to the back is too short to loosen whole kernels from the cob. Of course, you can double scan the same area, but you won't be able to get the FULL core. "Second Run" is not suitable for recipes that call for whole grains, but can be used as a thickening agent. Or you can leave them on the cob when you're making corn soup (yes, there is such a thing). So yes it works and if there was more clearance behind the blade it would be higher as it's easy to use and safer than a knife - but not good for full cores.
