TOTO's original design was all rubber and typically lasted 3-4 years before starting to warp and wear out. You will understand that life is short when you start seeing red deposits on the water level in the toilet. In fact, it was a piece of red rubber that had come loose from the fuel filler flap. You have to look in the water tank to see which TOTO toilet you have. Then take a close look at the back of the packaging to understand how this dampener is constructed. There are three settings that you need to adjust. The size of the openings in the flapper shell, the number of chain links used and the position of the chain hook on the spray arm. I left the durability box blank for now as only time will tell if this design lasts longer than the original solid rubber design.
