Guaranteed to work.

I made this to keep the dishonest negative stereotype of the neighbor and nosy landlord out of my room (I rent my room in the basement of a townhouse living in an apartment building). I had to change the locks 3 times and they kept coming back to my apartment. After using it it stopped completely. Somehow they got the keys to the locks which I bought myself/individually which I promptly changed. But this little beauty apparently has some kind of key that they couldn't find a duplicate for. Highly recommended if there are insidious, dishonest people in your living space.

Pros

DIMENSIONS - This latching device can secure round doorknobs with a maximum diameter of 2-7/8 inch. Please note the shank cutout is oval/oblong and measures 1-3/4" x 1-1/2" so it will freely fit some doorknobs with round thin stems.
