The grater itself works perfectly. Problem with floor design and cleanliness. The rubber pad around the bottom is designed and fitted in such a way that when grating objects (e.g. cheese) food gets into the pad between the metal body of the grater and the rubber pad. Just take the pad off and wash it, except it's tricky to put back on and you have to do it every time you use it (unless you like food debris lining the pad). When the gasket is removed the metal on the underside will fold/pucker and not seal, so food debris is likely to get stuffed in there as well. The advantages are that the grater grates well and apart from the issues mentioned above the construction is of good material and I have no doubt that it will last a long time. ** Updated 01/17/18.
