These bags hold approximately 8 gallons. We use 13 gallons in our tall kitchen bin but use them in other places including our office. They are strong and very strong. I was surprised when I received the box on my doorstep. It was very heavy and when I opened it the bags were there but not on the roll. It's too much to store indoors so I have to leave it in the garage and bring in 4 or 5 at a time. I wish he had ties. I need to leave enough space when I use them to hand knit, so basically I can't keep that much in one bag. That's why I can only give this bag 4 stars. It would be easy for a company and considering how much they charge for these bags I was expecting it. There are 500 bags in this box.
