Excellent thread, I bought this product on the advice of a dentist. The stiffer tip helps get into hard-to-reach places. As an aside I bought it specifically to get between the gum line and between the teeth of a 6 tooth bridge (previously covered teeth and one missing tooth) but it's almost impossible to get through. The stiff tip gets curled after the first tooth and I found I had to cut the ends off to push it through the second and third teeth. If it wasn't for that I would have given 5 stars.
