I have used and broken several of these bits. This is a custom sized drill bit and will fit my Mini Porter Cable dovetail mount. As mentioned in other reviews they break easily but I'm not sure if this is a manufacturing defect. This is a common problem and you can find discussions on carpenter threads. Some ways to reduce breakage are to adjust the milling speed to match the diameter of the bit and move the bit into the wood slowly enough so that you're pressing the bit quickly rather than too hard. enough speed not to overheat the beat. Much of your speed depends on the wood you are cutting. An overheated racquet will lose control and be more prone to breakage. One way I've found to extend the life of the bit is to only cut two or three dovetails at a time and allow the bit to cool between cuts. Yes, it's slow, but it prevents the bit from overheating and saves $$. That being said I'm still disappointed that this bit breaks so easily and is so expensive that you might think it has an edge over cheaper bits. I'm not sure if this is the case but I haven't found a better one so I got out a few more and hopefully improved my technique before I broke them all. I cut 1/2" birch plywood for a small box project.
