Wi-Fi chokes after a while

All I needed was an 802.11 b/g/n access point with a built-in gigabit switch. My WRT54GL which is over 10 years old is still running but for now I need 1Gbe to connect the NAS in this room to the desktops. Yes, I could just grab a gigabit switch and plug my WRT into it, but I wanted a cleaner look and fewer devices on my desk. To be honest I don't understand why it's so hard to make a properly working device these days - every router/access point has a ton of bad reviews about it dropping connections, randomly rebooting and generally not working properly. This seems to be about the device I have - Wi-Fi just stops working after a while. It happened for the first time after 5 hours of use, I thought it might be a coincidence, restarted the device and it started working again. Now, 3 days uptime and I have to hardwire myself to write this review. The built-in Ethernet switch still works, only WLAN has serious problems.
