This product failed for two reasons: First, the hardware is rusting and leaving rust stains on my car's paintwork. Crossbars on the roof rack. Too bad this product would have gotten five stars if higher quality nuts and bolts had been used and the manufacturer had supplied a simple plastic sleeve to allow the clamp to fit flat crossbars. I was able to install by making spacers that I cut from a small piece of rubber heater tubing. It turned a 10 minute install into a project, but it worked fine. However, after just a few days, rust started dripping onto my car. Unacceptable. The point is that not only does the rail rust, but also inside the car itself. I go back and order another rack with stainless steel tubes. I hope the new rack will also use stainless steel nuts and bolts. I would have preferred something made of aluminum or stainless steel, painted completely black. Looks better in black. Unfortunately, the only black kayak stands seem to be regular steel. This is an opportunity for a manufacturer in a fairly competitive market.
