I didn't realize this when I bought it, but the entire valve rotates about the same axis as the threads on the reservoir. This means you can tighten it and still have the valve pointing down! The valve itself opens and closes very easily in a controlled manner. Great success. For any people complaining about having to drill out the lid on the jug, I only recommend flipping the lid over and opening it from the back. You can poke a few small holes and take it out, use a big drill and stop as soon as it opens, or just cut it out with a good sharp knife. No thread damage, no worries.
