Our neighborhood (and many others I'm sure) has gone from a sleepy town to a crime town. I had a couple of those security bars (they go under the doorknobs and have rubber stoppers on the bottom) but they ruined my doorknobs and I didn't feel safer as you could shake the door if you kicked. Place. This privacy screen hook is very durable, well built and only took 5 minutes to install. Once we installed it the doors don't swing as much and I feel more secure. It also looks good and takes two seconds to pick the lock when someone comes to the door.
