Review on 🍳 OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Turner - Brushed Finish by Todd Atherton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good hard gymnast; Plastic on the underside of the handle

This item costs twice what I would pay at my local supermarket, but it is also much better. Most of them are solid pieces of good, strong steel. The bottom of the grip is a black plastic, probably silicone, which is a bit sad because I wanted a turner that Bull, a large beagle pup, couldn't destroy. He's a big boy and can go almost anywhere on the kitchen counter and in the sink. Dishes aren't always washed right after dinner, and this dog has had 3 good flips that he drags into the living room and buries in his favorite blanket on the couch for a snack later when nobody's looking. So the one-piece steel construction attracted me. "Let that dog try to eat that," I thought. If I had looked more closely at the photo - and it's true that this site is notorious for posting photos of something other than the product being sold, but in this case it's quite accurate at the time of the review - I would see that black material below, right on the pin. It offers a more comfortable weight, feels lighter in hand than if it were all steel, and will likely serve your needs. But I'd be even happier if it was just a stainless steel block and nothing else. All in all, this is a great tool for a person who often cooks with cookware that doesn't have a non-stick coating on the inside. Don't keep a puppy in the house that steals cookware. I have other spatulas that I use with my non-stick pans, but this one works well with my Calphalon and Revere Ware pans and skillets. I would buy this lathe again if it came to him. And maybe with the bull in the house.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Finish
Cons
  • Damaged
