Review on πŸšͺ Gator Door Latch Restorer - Strike Plate in Satin Nickel by Gavin Dunne

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Believe me, this is an EASY fix for doors that won't lock!

I never heard of this until fixing an interior door in my house that never closed (for a few years!) became a priority. I googled the solutions and "lipstick test" was one of the first results. I did this and verification confirmed that the latch hit the firing pin too low. My door hinges were tight so it looked like I would either have to discard the existing striker plate or slide the whole thing down. I made my own list of items you can buy at the hardware store - a chisel, a certain type of round file, etc. It was quite a long list. I ended up googling one more time before going to the store to make sure everything I needed was spelled correctly and ended up reading a few new websites. On one of them someone mentioned this crocodile lock. I searched and found the Gator site. There is a video on the website showing at least ten different doors secured using just this hardware and a screwdriver. They aren't sold in stores so I looked up Revain, read all the great reviews and decided it was worth a try (and shipping). I'm glad I tried it because it worked great. It really is as simple as unscrewing the original strike plate and then screwing on the new one. It comes with two parts and at first I only tried the main part but it didn't work. Adding an included "extra" second piece under the main piece helped my door. This added about a minute to the task! This product really works!
