Ignore the other review. This is a great set of 4 gauge copper patch cords. (Don't worry about me cutting it, I use mine for a slightly different application.) Using the same tools and some simple math, we can conclude that this is legitimate 4 gauge wire, not 29. It is important.- Second, you need to find the cross-sectional area. This is directly related to the ampere capacity of the cable. You can use math or look it up in a spreadsheet. I get 0.08mm^2. - Third, multiply by the number of strands. I counted about 245. It might not be perfect, but missing one or two doesn't change the result much. This is your total cross-sectional area. I get 19.6mm^2. - Fourth, look at the area on a 4 AWG solid wire. This is 21.1mm^2. Finally, conclude that this wire is close enough to a 4 AWG solid conductor to be considered a 4 AWG wire. Have fun jumping! PS I never thought I would ever need to test patch cords in my life, but that's another review.
