Winsor & Newton Gum Arabic, 75ml Products. I started using gum arabic to mix ink with Pearl EX powder pigments. They make beautiful mother of pearl products that can be painted on paper or canvas. I use them to write with calligraphy nibs. They look great, but if you just mix them with water, Pearl Ex won't last long and will wash out. Gum arabic comes to the rescue. Fixes the pigment on the paper after complete drying. Gum arabic can be quite sticky. The amount used should be carefully controlled. (Most often I use 1/4 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon water.) It's best to let the finished product dry completely before handling. I find liquid gum arabic to be convenient to use. It's also handy when I want to add a few drops to adjust the properties of the ink. Oxygen will cause it to degrade over time, so I minimize exposure to air. It turns yellower with age. I love the shape of this little bottle. I usually use a blunt syringe to pump liquid, but this bottle is easy to pour. The lid closes well and doesn't leak.
