Lost chrome and turned brown after first long ride

I installed it and it looked fine. My car sat for the next month and it still looked good. I was on a trip and it has lost its chrome look and is now brown gold. I have an Amazon return window in three days so I'm screwed but I hope you don't buy it. Cheap junk.
