I wanted to replace the round doorknob between the house and garage with a doorknob. The key to the front door opens all the locks in the house. I wanted to use the same key for all locks. I looked to see that the front door lock was a Kwikset, so I looked at the new Kwikset exterior locks and noticed that they have a 'smart key'. Once the (simple) installation was complete, the key changing process only took a minute or two. Simply insert the key that came with the lock, turn it, insert and remove the tool, remove the key that came with the new lock and insert the key you want to use. Make sure it works. They have made. I wanted to buy a new lock and then take it to a locksmith. This eliminated the locksmith step and expense. I would say that I spent between half an hour and forty-five minutes on this work. I didn't even have to use profanity! woo hoo!
