In addition to the standard NAS functions of file storage, media server, cloud storage, torrent download, etc. you can install a package of third-party applications that allow you to directlycomntrol the operating system itself. For example, enable / disable daemons such as samba (if the interaction is via nfs and it is not needed), modify cron, monitornetwork traffic and system calls.
