This tie is a bit thin for a large dog. I have a 60 pound dog and he tore him after about two months of "outdoor play". He's not chained to it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week just to play with. And it wore out pretty quickly compared to other large dog ties. On the other hand, this would be a great tie for medium to small dogs. He could successfully hold a quiet big dog, but for my big puppies that wasn't quite the quality I needed. They are very playful and when outside they are always running and pulling. So I needed something stronger. At the same time, the fasteners were really strong and healed well. The spring was great because it helped absorb the impact of a strong jerk at the end of the chain. I tied him to another rope and he walked over it very smoothly. The coating works great and doesn't wear off quickly. He didn't get caught in my dogs, in the bushes, or in the ground. It could definitely include medium-sized dogs - dogs the size of Cocker Spaniels. But it's also light and thin enough to fit smaller terriers and even toy poodles well. I just think the wrong dog size is advertised. This is great quality only better for small to medium sized puppies.
